Underair

Year
2017
Location
Örebro, Sweden

For the OpenART 2017 urban art biennial in Örebro, Sweden, SAM3 intervened in public space with an installation titled Underair. The Spanish artist built a large black cube in Teaterplan, the square facing the city theatre, and invited visitors to step inside and experience the piece from within. True to his fluid, continuous line technique, SAM3 painted directly onto the cube's interior walls. Witnesses at the biennial described the process as a single unbroken drawing, made in one breath, using one uninterrupted line throughout, a poetic, almost meditative act of public art-making that turned the black cube into a space for quiet wonder.
